Constantly interested in letter-sound relationship, Dr. Maia began her first research commitment, after her Ph.D. graduation, to the study of of declines in language and cognitive development among elderly people. Her initial study was aimed at inventing a new learning model or new practices that fit with the learning needs of the elderly requiring some unique approach.
From that, she moved on to study other factors which might affect language and cognitive development--particularly, the ability to see and to hear, believing both skills are critical to mature speech and communication as the individuals advance in age.
She also spent a decade, with her invented colors, setting up a writing workshop that assists individuals with phonemic awareness difficulty , subtle to severe, with or without oral language deficiencies, to be able to accelerate their auditory distinctions, while reading or writing, or both.
{ About Dr. MaiA : Salinee Antarasena }
Dr. Maia holds B.A. (English) from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, then M.A. and Ph.D. both in Creative Writing from Macquarie University Sydney. Her past research focused on color perceptions and color categorization in advertising created by the blind (inspired by her own experience from temporary blind caused by hemiplegia in 2005), which was awarded Best Paper in European Conference in 2008. Her current studies, in cooperation with Otolaryngology Institute of Thailand and Setsatian school for the Deaf, focus on individual differences in language acquisition especially in those with hearing impairment and hearing loss and with cochlear implants. She received a Young Alumni Award for an outstanding Thai alumnus who has made a significant contribution to relations between Thailand and Australia in 2009 through to 2010.
She is now working with overseas speech and ENT specialists, to develop a collaborative research aiming to increase awareness of hearing loss, language/speech delay as well as to improve quality of life. Further, as her work focus relies mostly on the child development, she simplifies her research works, and with her friends, designs child development tools and tools for learning, both of which--affordable and effective.

Inspired by the voluntary and academic works of her father, Dr. Maia started delving in the academic world quite at early age. Read more: her curiosity and inspiration
